The staff at Hilltop Child Care Center in Clarksville, MD were looking to update the backyard landscaping space to better accommodate the needs and well-being of the children.
We worked closely with the staff to design a safe, well-designed master plan that included the following:
Drainage System
A new drainage system that corrected prior issues with water management. Using four 12″ x 12″ drain boxes and an underground pvc structure, we were able to move all running water permanently out of the area.
Concrete Wall & Grading
Prior to laying the concrete, the project site was regraded and removed the existing fencing that surrounded the property. We then excavated the ground and installed a gravel base and 4″ thick concrete and rebar.
The new design provided a properly graded and safe, clean, smooth path for both the teachers and young children.
Wood Chips
Rhine installed a 6″ thick flooring of wood chips.
Fencing and Sandbox
Another important part of this project was new fencing and a new sandbox. Our Rhine Team installed a 3-rail fencing system with both a 4-foot single gate and a 10-foot double gate, both made of pressure-treated solid board pine.
The sandbox, which has proven to be an incredible benefit to the school children, was made with 6″ x 6″ pressure treated wood that made a 9′ x 9′ size.
