Double-Duty Plants

Planting flowers, trees, and plants that can serve more than one purpose is a great benefit at certain times of the year.  For example, even if you have a small yard, consider a small apple tree.  They will block the sun, provide privacy, and come Fall, provide you and your family with a delicious treat!

Color, Color, Color

While there is no right or wrong with how you design your flower beds or gardens, consider using multiple colors throughout.  Creating contrasting (or complimentary) looks can really create a wow factor to anyone’s eyes and also help extenuate the appearance of certain colors.  Even a piece of furniture or bird bath, it all comes together to create your ultimate vision.

Geometry of Designs

If you prefer a more symmetrical design or geometric patterns, take advantage of lines.  The perspective can really accentuate the overall appearance.  A couple small, well-pruned shrubs in the middle of a rectangular bed, adorned with flowers around and pebbles that hold it all together.  If you have a corner in your yard, work backwards as you can create a visual depth, making your property appear larger than it actually is!
