Priming a pool is the process of removing the air pockets trapped within the pump lines and replacing them with water. It’s a vital step in caring for your pool and only takes a short amount of time.

Turn the multiport valve in order to recirculate the water, as this will bypass the filter system. This allows the water to go directly into the pool entirely.

Filling the Pump with Water

First, check the drain plugs and ensure that they are tight so as to avoid any leaks. Then, simply open up the lid to the pool pump.

Next, fill the pump with water and let it run for a couple minutes. You will want the water to go above the skimmer line. The purpose of this process is to get suction in the line.

Filter System

The last step is to turn on your filter system. Once you replace the lid to the pool pump and turn on the system, you should see the pump filling up with water with air bubbles.
